Hackbridge Project Community Forum
Residents and businesses in Hackbridge are invited by Sutton Council to join a new group that will guide the transformation of the suburb into the UK's greenest place to live.
The council is staging the first meeting of the Hackbridge Project Community Forum on Thursday 15 October. It will act as the focal point for local people to have their say on and debate the various schemes and developments that make up the project, the pilot for One Planet Living in Sutton.
The Forum will meet for the first time at Culvers House Primary School in Orchard Avenue between 7pm and 9pm and all local people, businesses and community groups are invited.
Following an introduction by the council's Deputy Leader, Cllr Ruth Dombey, people can hear how the forum will run. They will also hear presentations on plans to redevelop the Felnex Site into hundreds of new, sustainable homes and other facilities.
There will also be a presentation on the Low-Carbon Zone. Sutton is to receive over £200,000 from the Mayor of London that will be used on a package of measures to help at least 700 homes in Hackbridge cut CO2 emissions by over 20% in the next three years.

The next community harvest event will be held on the 2th and 13th July 2008, 10am - 4pm at the Stanley Road Allotments in Carshalton.
We are holding it two weeks earlier than in previous years due to earlier flowering of the lavender which we believe may be due to climate change.
Attractions are likely to include:
Lavender PYO (small bunches - £1, large bunches - £2, buckets - from £6), aromatherapy advice, barbecue, beekeepers, lavender oil distillation display, Heritage Harvester, lavender cookie tasting, local artists at work, lavender arts and crafts, lavender plants for sale.
Please bring scissors if you have them, and clothing appropriate for the weather - rain or shine. If it's hot, please don't forget to bring sunscreen, a hat and some drinking water.

Take Pride, Take Pride kicks off again for it's third annual week of exciting community events running from Monday July 7 to Sunday, July 13, 2008.
We're asking all of Sutton's musicians, caterers, dancers, gardeners, historians - in fact, everyone - to get together to celebrate Sutton's diverse community. You can get involved by signing up and registering an event which can be anything from tea cups on the lawn to salsa classes at dawn.
There will be daily projects that anyone is welcome to join in with.
This year Take Part, Take Pride aims to celebrate all aspects of local life and we hope it has something for everyone whether you work in Sutton, run a business here or are a local resident. Visit the website for a full calendar of events.
