The following actions were identified:
Action 4.1 Improve awareness of a typical Sutton resident's carbon footprint breakdown. E.g. Bioregional to publish pie charts in Hackbridge Newsletters/media.

Action 4.2 Provide residents with information/guidance on the embodied energy of typical consumer products

Action 4.3 Generate alternatives to ownership of consumer good such TV and DVDs e.g. local cinema screenings

Action 4.4 Create home zone for Beddington Corner area; and more parks and outdoor spaces for safe play/recreation. This will encourage greater non-product/consumption based leisure e.g. sports, recreation spaces/ active outdoor leisure.

Action 4.5 Encourage/Facilitate Reuse and "freecycling" through provision of exchange facilities e.g. village green for car boot sales, pickup/drop off point for reusable goods. (e.g. Freebee stand at the station)

Action 4.6 Consider a locally-based trading scheme (LETS) with potential for local currency.

Action 4.7 Foster local champions to encourage and support more enlightened purchasing and use of materials in lifestyle and buildings.

Action 4.8 Provide access to recycling opportunities for everyday products like batteries and tin foil- e.g. local consolidation boxes

Action 4.9 Adopt a hierarchy preferred materials policy for new build projects based on lowest embodied carbon to be considered first. E.g. timber structural frames, pre-stressed concrete and lime mortar to be given preference wherever possible; uPVC windows to be avoided wherever possible.

Action 4.10 Set minimum environmental standards for buildings from the best practice that has been successfully achieved elsewhere e.g. multi-story timber frame building in Hackney.

Action 4.11 Consider bold and innovative uses of latest environmental techniques;

Action 4.12 Develop a collection of leading-edge exemplar buildings (both refurbishments and new builds) within the area to demonstrate and communicate sustainable materials.

Action 4.13 Ensure durability and compatibility of materials is fully considered e.g. combinations of lime based materials with pulverised ash materials.

Action 4.14 Investigate and prioritise locally sourced materials first. Ensure sufficient time is built into programmes to allow local suppliers to meet large scale orders.

Action 4.15 Develop local skills in sustainable materials and building techniques - possibly through school specialisms and/or partnerships with local training colleges.

Action 4.16 Set planning consents to encompass low carbon principles such as low embodied materials, renewable materials and local sourcing. Enforce these to ensure actual delivery.

Action 4.19 Ensure use of sustainable materials contributes to an improved aesthetic of the area.

Action 4.20 Ensure the sustainable credentials of building designs are legible and apparent to local residents - buildings act as educational tools by demonstrating their sustainability.

Action 4.21 Deliver within first year some quick-win smaller projects (new, refurb. and/or infrastructure/street furniture) that are central to Hackbridge community and clearly and visibly demonstrate low impact and sustainable building materials.

Action 4.23 Provide access to affordable low-embodied carbon materials including reclaimed materials. These must be affordable. Consider the benefit from economies of co-buying.
