Equity and Fairtrade Workshop

Draft aims for this principle are:

By 2025 all residents and workers in Hackbridge should earn a living wage.

By 2025 the area around the junction of Hackbridge and London roads will be a thriving centre to the community, with predominantly local, independent businesses

Fairly trade products to account for 75% of sales in local shops where those products are available for retailers to sell, and all businesses & schools in the area to be Fairtrade organisations.

The actions from the workshop are as follows:

Action 9.1 Support local shops rather than chain stores to keep money circulating in the local economy so we can regenerate with resources already in the area
Responsibility All local purchasers

Action 9.1 Use NEF's local economic multiplier tools to ensure we contribute to local economy in projects we run as part of One Planet Living in Sutton
Responsibility BioRegional, LB Sutton, other partners

Action 9.1 Ensure that a variety of spaces remain at existing industrial sites, i.e. size, location etc. to suit different sorts of businesses
Responsibility LB Sutton, developers, Sutton Chamber
