We had fantastic presentations from the New Economics Foundation, Fiona from the Sutton and Merton PCT and Rachel from BioRegional as well as a general round table discussion on what is health and happiness and what we can do to increase it.

Action 10.1 Set up an outside gym or exercise class in communal green space

Action 10.2 Take down fences between estates so that people are better able to get to know each other. Or put in gates.

Progress Since Hackbridge Week BedZED RA and some residents from Foxglove Way have started talking to each other about getting a gate put in between the two estates.

Action 10.3 Better public places with more benches and litter bins and less litter and dogs' mess

Action 10.4 Safer streets with reduces traffic and better cycle and pedestrian access. This could include ‘home zones' where no cars are allowed. Another suggestion was to reroute the HGVs that travel along the Hackbridge Road. ‘Hackbridge welcomes careful drivers' signs.

Action 10.5 An adventure playground on the municipal open land.

Action 10.6 A café/ community centre/ second hand shop as a social hub. Ideally this would be in an empty building at Hackbridge Station or Hackbridge corner. There is the old nursery space at BedZED available but many Hackbridge residents don't see the

Action 10.8 Getting the football pitch at BedZED up and running to benefit the whole community.
