Get more quality companies like the new Renault dealership into the Felnex trading estate. More local village style shops and more restaraunts (not takeaways) needed. Better parking facilities. The cleared site opposite the shops is very important to the future of Hackbridge this should be used very wisely and should incorporate all of the above plus new appartments.

I disagree that Hackbridge has good transport links. The trains are continually packed to capacity, the buses go absolutely nowhere you want to go to, and the tram is great, but quite a walk if it's raining. I think that the best thing would be for the government to go back to their original plans for extending the M23 up from Hooley all the way to Streatham, right past Hackbridge with a junction up at Mitcham Junction. This would give us fast access out of London and making the trip down to Gatwick Airport quick, easy and direct. It will also remove 90% of the traffic driving past our houses. See the original plans at: http://www.cbrd.co.uk/histories/m23/

Redevelop the area around Hackbridge Station. This is the first view people get when arriving in the area, it's not exactly welcoming. Why not use the area to provide open spaces, and small units for local businesses. Do we really need 4 newsagents and a burger bar...is this what local people really want, personally a butchers, bakers etc would be useful and reduce the need for people to drive to supermarkets. And lets develop the existing green spaces for people to use, make them friendly and usable!

All properties in Sutton to be heated by ground source heat pumps. Works like a refrigerator in reverse taking heat out of the soil via pipes sunk 6 foot below the ground, compressing the gas in the papies that heats them further. It produces 4x the energy its pump uses, in the form of heat for central heating and hot water. Very large initial investment but if done on street by street basis much lower cost. Pay for out of loan paid through supplementary council tax over 20 years on the property. Owner will benefit from massively reduced energy bills. See Matthew Parris article in The Times, April 7, 2007, 'Thanks to heat of the Earth, Im warm'

Hackbridge has great transport links (rail, tram, bus and motorway access) which should not be overlooked however there is bags of room for improvement, development and investment. London Road is in dire need of drainage support as every time you walk to the shops or station you risk being soaked when it is raining. Sutton council and the highways agency need to take responsibility. Access for disabled folk needs to be improved especially at Hackbridge station. Zero tolerance on litter and can we get transport for london to reconsider having glass shelter bus stops? Its sad when people feel the need to smash these and cause lots of damage which results in lots of glass on the pavement dangerous to all! More cycle lanes please which would encourage us to venture out more on our bikes. Kelvin House: can the council not buy this land and secure into a green space for local people and families to enjoy? Could we not look at injecting money around where the shops are and going for a more village feel... more voluntary days for residents to get involved young and old so we can make a positive contribution to our community. Hackbridge has lots of potential and with a little tlc, community help and some much needed money/funds it could be transformed from the ugly duckling that it is into... (well thats up to us as the local residents)
