A new Transition Town group may be about to start in Sutton and you can be involved…
Transition Towns are community-led responses to the pressures of climate change, fossil fuel depletion and increasingly, economic contraction. They can be large cities, small villages or any area in between – and the ways in which local communities will undertake transition will very much depend on local conditions.
The movement is only 6 years old – but already there are over 300 Transition Towns in the UK and thousands worldwide.
Transition Towns follow a rough process that has 12 stages, culminating in an ‘Energy Descent Plan’ which involves local residents in specific projects including local food production, transport, energy use etc. In this way members of communities work together to build a resilient future.
For residents to live One Planet lifestyles in Sutton, it's clear we need a patchwork of different activities and projects to help achieve this change so One Planet Sutton is looking forward to seeing Transition Sutton.
If it sounds like something that's for you, there are three film screenings and discussions to discuss the scope of forming Transition Sutton, starting on 13th November (details below).

What's happening?
A film is being shown at 7.30pm on Saturday 13 November at All Saints Community Centre, New Road, Hackbridge to introduce the concept of Transition Towns and explore how this can work within Sutton. Doors open 7.00pm. All welcome and free entry. Further film nights will be on 13 December and 13 January.
