The London Biodiversity Partnership brings together organisations to benefit wildlife and boost the capital's greenspaces.
There are many species that can benefit from the artificial fabric of the city; bats, swifts, house martins, jumping zebra-spiders, London rocket and maidenhair are all able to thrive in the urban environment. Designing for biodiversity either through the use of boxes and artificial nests and even artificial voids in walls and embankments of civil engineering structures, which benefits the sand martin and kingfisher, are all able to contribute to a more biodiverse city. For example, in Deptford Creek the use of green roofs has helped to encourage space for the black redstart.
