Sustainability Action Plan

Zero Carbon

the Action Plan for this principle

Below is the Sustainability Action Plan for Zero Carbon

This is only the Plan so far, and more actions are always being added by us and by you, as ideas on this site. Vote on all the new ideas we are considering on the Ideas page.

Some of the actions below you can do right away, and others are long-term actions that may need some organisation or funding to get underway. They are all equally important!

Long-term Action:

Refurbishment

If you are planning any refurbishment in your home this is an excellent opportunity to increase your home's energy efficiency and add value to your property too! For example, if you are replacing your floor you could add floor insulation, if you are adding a conservatory you could add a solar hot water panel.

BioRegional came up with this idea.

Benefit:

Local Hackbridge resident Russell Smith has renovated his house in Carshalton Grove to minimize CO2 and resource use. The house was built in 1870 and does not have cavity walls. The following measures have been put in place:

• High levels of insulation using different materials and monitoring the effectiveness of each one
• Hyper-efficient heating system using renewable fuels
• Airtightness improvements and ventilation control
• Rain and greywater recycling
• Improved waste management facilities

Cost:

His company Parity Projects now helps other households to make the same improvements. To find out more or arrange a visit tel: 0208 296 0863, www.parityprojects.com , e: russell@parityprojects.com
